GoChain — Identity Framework

GoChain — Identity Framework

As always, our development team has been hard at work and focused on building a full suite of products and services. This approach is part of our main initiative in securing a solid foundation for a decentralized future. We have made steady progress on our 2019 Roadmap and a couple of months ago we delivered a proof-of-concept for an identity framework for Microsoft. Now we are proud to release tools for the rest of the world to use! We invite you to go ahead and utilize our public identity app for managing decentralized identifiers, issuing verifiable credentials and verifying credentials. This is all based on the W3C identity specifications. Once you create your decentralized identity, you will receive your first credential from GoChain! You can then verify that credential in the app too. Our public app is a great way to see how simple and valuable leveraging decentralized identity can be for not just individuals, but also organizations. For instance, Universities can issue digital diplomas that allow HR departments to easily verify an interviewee’s claims, greatly reducing the risk of resume fraud. Banks can issue digital claims such as statements,… Learn more

GOST Protocol — Cross Chain Transactions Between Ethereum and GoChain

GOST Protocol — Cross Chain Transactions Between Ethereum and GoChain

Earlier this year we announced our intention to bring stablecoins to GoChain to benefit from GoChain’s superior speed and throughput which makes day-to-day payments, such as buying coffee, a reality. Instead of the typical stablecoin way of doing things, where a third party holds custody of fiat cash backing each token, GoChain stablecoins will be backed by stablecoins on Ethereum, 1-to-1. Today, we’re proud to announce GOST Protocol, the first of its kind enabling interoperability between blockchains in a fully decentralized manner. Background Currently buying coffee with crypto isn’t feasible because the blockchain networks that the stablecoins are on are too slow and can’t handle the volume. Tether (USDT) is on the Bitcoin network and most of the others are on the Ethereum network (USDC, TUSD, PAXOS, etc). Bitcoin can only handle 7 transactions per second and takes a minimum of 10 minutes to confirm a transaction or 60 minutes (6 block confirmations) if you want to be safe. Ethereum can only handle around 13 transactions per second and you have to wait at least 15 seconds or minutes if you want to be safe and that’s if the network isn’t congested, which it usually is. You can’t run a… Learn more

GoChain 2019 Roadmap

GoChain 2019 Roadmap

Over the past year we have learned what is lacking in the blockchain ecosystem and preventing adoption. We have been working closely with our customers, from startups to Fortune 200 companies, to help them build blockchain solutions and that has given us a lot of insight into how things could be made better. We’re devoting our efforts in 2019 towards building the foundation for a decentralized future. GoChain is already one of the best performing blockchains on the market and the projects we’re working on this year build upon that base. By the end of the year we’ll have a full suite of products and services enabling people to build the next generation of decentralized applications. Here is a visualization of the the puzzle pieces required to build decentralized applications that provide a level of trust, censorship resistance and ownership which wasn’t possible before blockchain. GoChain Layered Architecture Overview for 2019 Developer Tools If we want to see widespread adoption, we need to make it easier for developers to build great products. We have first hand experience with the tools that are available today and we learned a lot from other developers during our GoBuild Hackathon. The current… Learn more

How to Use Ledger with GoChain

How to Use Ledger with GoChain

The GoChain blockchain is now officially supported by Ledger, meaning you can store your $GO and GO-20 standard tokens on your Ledger device. To install the GoChain app on your Ledger device and manage GO with MyCrypto or MyEtherWallet, just follow the simple instructions below. The GoChain app is developed and supported by the GoChain community. Before you start Set up Ledger Live with your Ledger device.Update the firmware on your Ledger hardware wallet.Install Google Chrome or Firefox.Install the Ledger Ethereum app (the GoChain app requires it). Install the GoChain app Open the Manager in Ledger Live.Connect and unlock your Ledger device. If asked, allow the manager on your device.Find GoChain in the app catalog.Click… Learn more

Why We’re Building GoChain

Why We’re Building GoChain

From the GoChain Medium Blog archives! It all started with a smart contract. A friend was starting a company early last year and wanted to do an ICO to raise money. He was big into cryptocurrency and knew the space well. When you had a crypto question, he was the guy to ask (we all know that guy right?). He needed some help with his token sale contract so a couple of guys from our team volunteered as both a way to help a friend and to learn. From there, we took it upon ourselves to learn everything about Ethereum and smart contracts; what they were, how they work, and how they are implemented. The Potential is Huge Today, nearly every ICO/token sale is done as an Ethereum smart contract and for good reason. Ethereum is insanely popular which means the community for helping each other build smart contracts is there, the contracts themselves are set in stone which makes for some level of trust between parties that don’t know each other, and having everyone using the same technology means the related tech and services like token exchanges can easily support all the new tokens since they all… Learn more
